I GOT ENGANGED IN VENICE

So if you follow me on any other social media you'd know that my partner and best friend of 7 amazing year finally proposed to me in Venice on our anniversary!!

I could cry writing that sentence, our relationship is so so precious to me, being together at such a young age in the last year of school, went to college together done everything always together. School sweethearts is a tough thing to accomplish, as you grow up in those special years together you can grow apart but I'm so happy that it never happened to us. Of course we have had plenty of our ups and downs. But we both have 100% recently realised that everything we want is right here, to be honest I really couldn't ask for more.

FACTS

Any i'm being super soppy but these images just get me so emotional, of course we took loads and loads of photos, Venice it self we should talk about.
Venice is BEAUTIFUL!
This time of year it can be very chilly, but if you don't mind that I'd recommend it to avoid huge flocks of people in summer. The city does not smell one bit, it's a question I get asked a lot! Maybe it does in summer because of the heat & tourists misbehaving in the water but generally was fine!
You legit can walk the whole distance in a hour or so! So no matter where you stay you can definitely see everything so don't worry about over paying just to be closer to the centre, it's nicer staying out the centre to be in a quieter area.
The place we stayed we found on air bnb called the High Lights Terrace, it was  lovely and of corse will always be in my heart as he proposed on our balcony. If you wish to stay in the same place I'll leave a link below the post for the apartment on air bnb! It was great to stay here, easy to book all questions answered very quickly and we were given instructions on how to get to Venice from the airport and met Alex our guide to show us into the apartment. I'd super super recommend this place to stay so please check it out on air bnb !

Places i'd recommend

Definitely visit the main sites to see such as the Rialto bridge, here will be busy but be patient and grab a photo on the bridge or of the incredible views. We actually stood and watched the sunset here and there are bars and restaurants along the sides of the grand canal from the bridge. We didn't eat dinner here but had a cocktail and it was a nice place to sit and it also had heaters which was much appreciated in the cold!
Also head towards the main square Piazzo San Marco and go inside the Basilica di San Marco (I'll include a picture) Its is beautiful inside and out, outside it looks huge and daunting to go inside but definitely do go inside. Remember big bags are not allowed inside so when planning to go just travel lightly. No pictures allowed inside but very peaceful, inside it really takes your breath away with how big the building is!
Next to that you have the Doges palace and the Campanile (the long tall bit) Both great to see!
All around these are little shops and very expensive coffee shops! I mean if you have the money to spend €10 to spend on one coffee then thats fine!
Other wise I'd really stress to be careful eating out, confirm prices before you order like crazy. We stuck to small coffee shops that weren't too near very popular places and avoided restaurants that did not have people trying to get you to come in or had 'fresh' fish outside on ice.
They are big on fish food also, which I was surprised about. Local fishermen fish every day there expect Sundays so Monday would be a no fish day if you were me.
Down the road from the main square you can find the bridge of sighs might as well cross that off your list, my advice just walk around everywhere!

We got the boatbus transport on and off the land again, was so much fun and a different way of seeing Venice, so if you can handle to nerves jump on one !
For a quick cheap coffee and slice of pizza which I did quite a lot, there is this little nice one called Farini it was next door to the Captain candy shop which is very popular so head there are go in the coffee shop next door for something quick to have at a great price.
